To Tag or Not to Tag?
Becoming a tagging kung-fu master | 43 Folders
I have become obsessed with tagging. Well, maybe not obsessed, but it’s becoming important to consistently tag across my applications and services. Which is why this article grabbed my attention.
List of Apps/Services I use tags:
– Yojimbo
– My WordPress Blog
– My Typeface Blog
– My Ning
– MarsEdit
– Pathfinder
– Backpack/Packrat
– Highrise
– Facebook
– del.icio.us
– Gmail
– Journler
– Mail.app (MailTags)
– DevonThink Pro
– etc.
So I’m starting to develop a list of tags (and the consistent format) that I’ll use across formats. While I refuse to keep a Sticky Note(s) – I’ll figure out a easily accessible file that I can open quickly (sounds like a QuickSilver trigger!).

thanks for this post! that sounds cool……..developing a cross-platform tag list! i’m definitely gonna try it out.
I know that this post is quite old, but I have to ask: Does DevonThinkPro have tagging capabilities?? I’m trying the program right now and I don’t see any tags. Am I missing something? why do you include this program in a post about tagging? I assume that you found something that I didn’t, or maybe you came up with a personal system for tagging entries with devonthink. Maybe using the Comments field to store “tags”?
I’m really curious about this!, if you could give me a hint I’d be very grateful. Thanks.
And by the way, your blog is very interesting!.
I have used the “Label” feature for tagging…especially if you have the GTD Devonthink script (http://www.devon-technologies.com/support/academy/dt_scripts.html).
Thanks for the kind words!
Thanks to you for your reply!. I’ll check that script and I’ll take a closer look into the label field.
